APPLICATIONS

iCart at work in the real world

There are no computer generated images here.  These are actual applications where iCarts perform real tasks.

Battery Manufacture

iCarts operate in one of the worlds largest battery manufacturing facilities in the Nevada Desert USA.

Thousands of AA size battery cells end up in a single battery pack in a typical electric car. These cells are moved between various manufacturing stages by iCarts.  A "pick and drop" technique is used to swap trolleys without stopping the manufacturing process.

Automotive Subframe Assembly

The front subframe assembly of a motor vehicle is carried out as a subprocess separate to the main car assembly line.  iCarts with custom trolleys move past operators who add parts as the iCart passes.  The automated tightening systems communicate with the iCarts over WiFi and can direct a faulty subassembly to a repair or replace station.

When the assembly is complete the iCart delivers the finished product directly to the main car assembly line over 100m away.

This iCart system replaced an assembly conveyor that prevented operators from working on both sides of the assembly process.

Industrial and Commercial lighting

iCart brings a fresh approach to pallet handling applications. It’s simple. Keep everything at a height that suits the operator rather than the machinery. Transfer to and from iCarts is carried out with modules designed to minimise or eliminate operator involvement. No lifting and lowering by operators.

Operators build a stack of product on a euro pallet. An iCart is requested via a pushbutton. When the iCart arrives the operator slides the full pallet onto the iCart and then releases the iCart using the pushbutton.

Stop devices automatically latch up to hold the load in place.

Automated transfers units can be used to drive down costs further. Laser safety scanners stop the transfer when persons approach giving safe open access to equipment.

Car Exhaust Manufacture

Robot welding stations are fed with parts in custom made trolleys delivered by iCart.  Each trolley carries the individual parts to make 10 complete exhausts.  A supermarket style approach is taken to loading of the specific components required.

Mail Centre Infeed Queue

This triple iCart shuttle buffer can queue and store around 60 trolleys within its 56m length.  This saves operators pushing trolleys over 75km every day.  There are 3 iCart shuttles within the buffer to ensure quick throughput. Opportunity charging of shuttle batteries is carried out automatically.

Automotive First Tier

Operating in 3 different European locations iCarts are used to deliver surface mount components, dashboard mouldings and starter motor housings. This customer has had iCarts in use for over 7 years in France, Portugal and Macedonia.
